I think it's safe to say that one day we'll see a new Star Trek series on TV, and Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daises, Heroes) and filmmaker Bryan Singer have been discussing ways to bring it back. If anyone can get it back on TV it's these two guys. In a recent interview with EW, Fuller said that if the series is going to happen, it will happen after the big screen sequel that J.J. Abrams is currently creating.
Bryan and I are big fans of Trek and have discussed a take on what we would do, and we would love to do it. I don’t think anything is going to happen in any official capacity until after the next movie comes out. And I'm sure it would be wisely under J.J. Abrams' purview of what happens. He’s the guardian of Trek right now.
The sequel is set to be released on May 17th 2013, and I suspect it still might be a few years until we see a new TV series, but I'm confident that it'll happen. When it does, I think it's going to end up being a pretty epic return to TV.
What would you like to see happen in a new Star Trek series?
