MIT Creates Self Sculpting Sand

Idealab is reporting game changing news out of the science world as MIT researchers have created "smart sand". What is smart sand you may ask? Say you have an action figure and you want an exact copy. All you have to do is put said figure in sand and BOOM, exact replica sand copy. Pretty handy for the man who needs to make copies of gears or needs a specific shape tool, which is what MIT researchers are envisioning for the smart sand. 

Me? I'm just hoping some escaped convict falls in it and becomes self aware, If only to fulfill the prophecy.
