SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT Remake On The Way

Movie by

Silent Night, Deadly Night is getting the remake treatment from The Genre Company and Inferno's Ember Prods. Variety reports that the Christmas-themed horror pic Silent Night, will be a loose remake of the 1984 film. Malcolm McDowell is set to star in the film being directed by Steven C. Miller (The Aggression Scale). Filming begins principal photography next month and will arrive in theaters this holiday season.

Jayson Rothwell wrote the script and is also exec producing. The story follows "a local police department's search for the killer Santa Claus terrorizing a remote Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. McDowell will play Sheriff Cooper, a small-town hero ready for some big-time action."

I have not seen the original yet, but there are not too many holiday horror movies. I am interested in seeing this with McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Heroes) in the film. Do you think this film deserves a remake?
