Last month is was reported that District 9's Sharlto Copley was offered the role of the villain in Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy. Today, that news has been confirmed, and he's officially on board to play Adrian Pryce! Copley's a solid actor, and this will be the first time we see him take on a sinister role like this, which should be cool. I can easily see him playing a mean ass villain.
Pryce is a mysterious billionaire trying to destroy the life of Joe Douchett (Josh Brolin) by kidnapping and imprisoning him for 15 years. Douchett has no idea why this is happening to him. When he is released from the hellish prison, he sets out on a journey to find out who imprisoned him and why. Elizabeth Olsen plays a caseworker who helps Brolin investigate his past.
It was also announced that the actor has been cast in another movie called Open Grave. The thriller is being made by Apollo 18 director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego. The story sounds pretty crazy, Deadline explains that "Copley’s character wakes up in the pit full of rotting bodies with no idea how he got there, begins to have flashbacks of himself murdering people and stars to believe he’s the killer." Now that sounds awesomely intense!
I think I might be more excited about him starring in this Open Grave movie. Which of these two films are you most excited about seeing him in?
