The Avengers is still kicking ass at the box office having made over a billion dollars, and fans are excited about the prospect of a sequel. We know it's going to eventually come after Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2. The sequel is currently in the works, and we just hope that Joss Whedon comes back to direct it! He did such an incredible job with the first film it's hard to imagine anyone else taking on the challenge.
LA Times just posted an interview they did with Joss Whedon before the movie opened up in the U.S. and here's what he had to say about the sequel when he was asked about it...
You know, I’m very torn. It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it. But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool.
It has yet to be seen what Whedon's plans are, but The Avengers wouldn't be the same without him. Now that the film has been released, and it's making as much money as it is, maybe there's a bigger chance the writer/director will want to come back and blow some more shit up. There's a good chance considering that he's already talking about adding more female characters.
How would you feel if Whedon didn't come back to direct The Avengers 2?
