Juno Temple is the latest actress to join the cast of Disney live-action retelling of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent. She joins Angelina Jolie who plays the title character, Elle Fanning as Aurora and Sharlto Copley is Stefan, described as "the half-human and half-fairy bastard son of the human king." The cast also includes Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake), Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter), Kenneth Cranham (Made in Dagenham), Sam Riley (Brighton Rock) and Lesley Manville (Another Year).
This version of the story will be directed by Robert Stromberg, and it will be told from the point of view of the evil witch Maleficent, and what drove her to curse the princess on her 16th birthday in the first place.
According to THR, Temple will be one of the three pixie fairies in the classic fairy tale who are tasked with taking care of Aurora in the cottage in the woods alongside Staunton and Manville. "Temple will play Thistletwit who, like the other two pixies, Knotgrass and Flittle, is neglectful and superficial." Temple is a perfect fit for the role as she actually kind of looks like pixie fairy.
