MACGRUBER 2 Could Actually Happen

Movie by Ben Pearson

I haven't seen MacGruber yet (I know, I know - I just added it to my Netflix queue), but despite its stale reception at the box office when it debuted in 2010, most of my friends think it's a hilarious and underrated comedy. ScreenCrush has good news for fans: a sequel to the SNL movie just might see the light of day...one day.

In an interview with director Jorma Taccone, they asked him about a possible sequel:

It would be me, Will and John [Solomon] writing it again. Every time I hang out with Will, we talk about all our cool ideas for the sequel. We have the idea for it and we have a title, but I won’t tell you what it is.

He also revealed that it would take place during Christmas, and would not feature a baby between MacGruber and Vicki St. Elmo, saying that they wanted to avoid jumping the shark that quickly. There are no plans to bring this one to screens right away, since everyone is busy working on other projects at the moment, but Taccone said "it would be a shame not to do another one," so that sounds positive enough for fans to at least get their hopes up that they'll see their favorite flannel-wearing hero in theaters again.

What did you think about MacGruber, and are you on board for a sequel?
