Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy to Star in Buddy Cop Comedy

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is set to direct an Untitled buddy cop comedy for 20th Century Fox, and it will star Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

The script for the film was written by Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold, and the story "follows the strained working relationship between a high-strung FBI agent (Bullock) and an unconventional Boston cop (McCarthy) who team to take down a Russian gangster."

Feig did a great job with Bridesmaids, and McCarthy was freakin' hilarious in it. It will be fun to see her team up with Bullock, I think they'll make for a good on screen team. I just hope this doesn't turn out being one of those typical Hollywood cookie cutter buddy cop comedies. It'd be nice if it has some fun and different original elements to it.

Production is scheduled to start shooting this summer, right after McCarthy is finished working on Seth Gordon's comedy Identity Thief. Bullock next stars in Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi pic Gravity, and Feig is currently developing a English-language remake of French film The Intouchables.
