Natalie Portman is attached to star in a new western called Jane Got a Gun being directed by Lynn Ramsay, who I know nothing about. She directed a movie called We Need To Talk About Kevin, which I've never seen. The film was written by Brian Duffield, and was on the 2011 Black List of best unproduced screenplays.
Portman will play a woman "a woman whose outlaw husband returns home barely alive and riddled with bullet wounds. She is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm when her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job."
The deal for this film came together at the Cannes film Festival, and apparently there was a nice little bidding war among financers and studios.
Not sure abut the director of the film, but I'm a big fan of Portman, she's an incredible actress, and it will be awesome to see her star in a nice gritty western. What do you think about Portman taking on a project like this?
