Bruce Willis says LOOPER is Better than Anything He's Ever Done

I'm insanely excited about seeing Rian Johnson's futuristic sci-fi film project Looper. I've been impressed with everything I've seen, and why wouldn't I be? Johnson is one of the most talented yet underrated directors making movies right now. Everything he has done, such as Brick and Brothers Bloom, have been beautifully scripted, wonderfully shot, completely fun and original.

Bruce Willis stars alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the movie, and up until now we've only heard Johnson and Levitt talk about it. Willis has been pretty quite, but in a recent interview with Esquire he talks about Looper, how awesome of a director Johnson is, and reveals that it's better than anything he's ever done. That's one hell of an amazing compliment!

(Willis) really wants to talk about Looper, the tale of a time-traveling corporate assassin sent back in time to meet, for lack of a better word (and avoiding a spoiler), his maker. “It’s better than anything I’ve ever done…Rian did an amazing thing. He conceived an original story. He wrote it, sold it, stuck with it, directed it, and finished it,” Willis says. “That’s just tough to do in this town. Someone always weasels into the process. That didn’t happen here. And if he never did anything else except that Herculean effort, he’d have made it in the business. Amazing.

“It’s more than an original story. It’s a story people are going to talk about, and see twice. And argue about. I was arguing with myself about the story when I read it the first time. That’s all Rian Johnson, beginning to end. Great, great director.”

I'm not sure I've ever heard Willis speak so highly of a movie he's made before. I think we already knew this movie was going to be incredibly badass, but it's very cool to see Willis speaking so highly of it, and its director. Check out the trailer here if you missed it, or just watch it again because you can!

Here's The Official Synopsis:

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market.  When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up.  Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.  The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels.  Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
