Gary Oldman Cast in ROBOCOP

Gary Oldman is set to star alongside Joel Kinnaman in MGM’s remake of Robocop being directed by Elite Squad director Jose Padilha.

Kinnaman plays a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer. According to THR, Oldman will play a character named Norton, "the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation."

You can't go wrong with Oldman, the guy is simply an awesome actor that is great in everything he does. There's no word on when the movie will actually start shooting, but MGM wants to get it released in the summer of 2013.

Oldman will next be seen in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises as Commissioner Gordon. He also has a role in the awesome period crime movie Lawless, with Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy. What do you think of Oldman joining the remake of Robocop?
