NEED FOR SPEED Movie to Be Directed By Scott Waugh?

Act of Valor co-director Scott Waugh has been offered to direct the big screen adaptation of the popular EA video game franchise Need For Speed.

The story for the film was developed by brothers George and John Gatins, and George who wrote Real Steel will write the script. All we've heard about the story so far is that it will feature a cross-country race from San Francisco to New York.

Act of Valor was a pretty awesome movie for having a bunch of NAVY seals who couldn't act starring in the film. Waugh could end up being a solid choice to direct the project if he ends up taking it. The director is also attached to direct another car racing film called High Speed that he set up through his own production company. That film was described as bringing together “the best high-speed police pursuit drivers in the country, assembled as a unit to stop and elusive, high-end underground racing circuit hellbent on running deadly point-to-point races through major American Cities.”

It makes me wonder if DreamWorks is looking to combine that film with Need for Speed. What do you think?
