Casting for Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is moving along. Last week we reported that Robert Pattinson was rumored to be up for the role of Finnick Odair. E! Online is reporting that Pattinson is out but, Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund are on the list. E! apparently got these names from an anonymous source, who also states that Lionsgate is looking at unknown actors. Official announcements are expected to be made later this week.
Here is what the studio had to say:
As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.
The role of Odair is one of the biggest characters to cast, so it is one that will be taken fairly seriously. I would rather see Kitsch or Hedlund in the role than Hammer. Entertainment Weekly picked True Blood's Ryan Kwanten, and I would love to see that happen. It will be interesting to see what happens. The announcement should be made later this week on Twitter at @LionsgateNews.
