THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Animated Movie - Sneak Peek Featurette
Warner Bros. Animation is currently developing an adaptation of Frank Miller's classic comic The Dark Knight Returns. I've always wanted to see this story brought to life, I just hope the WB animation team can pull it off, because I felt they dropped the ball with Batman: Year One. They can't do that with this one, they've got to go all out, and according to what is being said in this new behind the scenes featurette for the film they have. The featurette focuses on the story, characters, some of the animatics and art that has been done to create the movie, and even a few little animated bits.
The story will be split up into two films, and here's the synopsis:
The Dark Knight Returns is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.
Peter Weller (Robocop) will be the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Robin. David Selby (original Dark Shadows soap opera), Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face; and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper, the psychiatrist who releases the Joker from the insane asylum. The movie is being directed by Jay Oliva, who was the storyboard artist for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman movie Man of Steel, from a script by Bob Goodman.
If your a fan of the comic, and the DC animated movies then this featurette is a must watch! Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will be released this fall and Part 2 in early 2013. Do you think the WB's animation team will deliver a solid Dark Knight Returns movie?
