IRON MAN 3, MAN OF STEEL, THE HOBBIT Set for Comic-Con 2012
San Diego Comic-Con 2012 is less than a month away, and we're excited as hell to be attending this year! We knew this was going to be a great year at the convention as there's a ton of great stuff coming out in the next couple of years. I can't wait to partake of the Comic-Con geek feast!
The Hollywood studios are still in the process of locking down their convention plans and it sure looks like an epic year! So here's a run down of what fanboys and fangirls have to look forward to seeing. I imagine all of these panel presentations will involve first look footage from these films.
Marvel will be bringing some Iron Man 3 greatness, I imagine they'll end up officially announcing those two secret film projects in development as well. Disney will be showing off Wreck-It Ralph and Oz: The Great and Powerful, and maybe... just maybe The Lone Ranger.
Warner Bros. will bringing along The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as well as Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Legendary Pictures plans to join in with the WB panel to preview Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. They're panel will take place on Saturday and be three hours long!
Sony Pictures will most likely bring the Total Recall reboot back to Hall H, and bring along a few of their other project like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Premium Rush, Kevin James' martial-arts comedy Here Comes the Boom, and Will Smith and M. Night Shymalan's post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie After Earth.
Then of course Summit Entertaiment and Lionsgate will indulge the Twilight fans by brining The Twlight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. But if you want to see some The Expendables 2 badassery you're going to have to sit through the Twilight insanity.
It's not clear yet on what Universal Pictures is doing, but there's a possibility that they could bring the Dark Horse Comics adaptation of R.I.P.D. with Ryan Reynolds, which wrapped production in January. I really hope Universal decides to attend this year because they could also bring some stuff from The Bourne Legacy and Keanu Reeves' samurai epic 47 Ronin, which is a film I'm extremely excited about.
DreamWorks Animation will have a panel hosted by chief creative officer Bill Damaschke, but not in the great Hall H.
Studios not attending this year's convention include 20th Century Fox, Relativity Media, DreamWorks, and Paramount Pictures. At least they wont be showing anything in Hall H. Any of these studios can change their minds and jump in between now and the convention.
I'm surprised that Paramount is bowing out. They've got a ton of great stuff they could show off like G.I. Joe: Retaliation, World War Z, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher, and Star Trek 2, which is the movie we're all excited about! Fox could have brought The Watch, Taken 2, Life of Pi, and A Good Day to Die Hard.
Regardless of who's not coming, Comic-Con 2012 looks like it going to be an awesome year, and we'll be in attendance to cover it for you! If you do plan on attending the convention this year, make sure to meet up with us at our annual meet-up! We'll let you know they details of that meet-up in the near future.
Are you excited about what's coming to the Con this year?
