Paramount Wants Justin Timberlake for BAYWATCH

Paramount has been developing their Baywatch movie for a while, with little excitement about the project from us geeks. Especially since it will have absolutely nothing to do with the original TV series or its many spin-offs. Acting and story wise Baywatch wasn't a great show, but as far as its cultural impact goes and its ability to make talentless (yet attractive) women into household names, it deserves some credit. It also brought David Hasselhoff back... eeh? Eh?

Now Paramount is looking to reel in a far younger lead with more acting and singing talent than The Hoff could ever muster (just don't tell him that). Twitchfilm reports that the studio is pursuing Justin Timberlake for the lead role.
If cast, Timberlake would play a disgraced former Olympic swimmer who tries out for the Baywatch crew.
The last draft of Paramount's big-screen adaptation of Baywatch was written by Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan and is said to have characters for both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson to take if they so wish, but they will not be playing the characters that they did on the original Baywatch.
The film is being produced by Ivan Reitman, Beau Flynn, and Tripp Vinson. It has a solid team behind it, but unless they get a solid director to add a little more credibility to the project, it doesn't look like a good vehicle for Timberlake who has been pretty solid on the projects he chooses.
Would you want to see Timberlake in a Baywatch movie?
