Trailer for Takashi Miike's New Film HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI
I love a good martial arts film, and here's the trailer to a solid looking new samurai drama called Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai. It comes from Japanese director Takashi Miike who recently directed the film 13 Assassins, which was pretty damn good. This latest film is a remake of Masaki Kobayashi’s 1962 film called Harakiri. Unfortunatley, as good as it looks, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai is not getting very good reviews on the festival circuit. I like these kinds of movies though, so I think I might end up enjoying it. I guess we'll see!
Here's the Synopsis:
A mysterious samurai arrives at the doorstep of his feudal lord, requesting an honorable death by ritual suicide in his courtyard. The lord threatens him with the brutal tale of Motome, a desperate young ronin who made a similar request with ulterior motives, only to meet a grisly end. Undaunted, the samurai begins to tell a story of his own, with an ending no one could see coming. The latest film from visionary auteur Takashi Miike (13 ASSASSINS), HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI is a thrilling exploration of revenge, honor, and individuality in the face of oppressive power.
