LEGO Movie Casts Batman, Superman, and Lead Character
As suspected, we're going to see some superhero cameos in Warner Bros. upcoming big screen adaptation of LEGO which has been titled Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Phil Lord, Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), and Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) are directing the movie, and it's just been confirmed that Batman and Superman will be characters in the movie. Will Arnett (Arrested Development) will be voicing Batman, and they are in talks with Channing Tatum to play Superman. I have a feeling we'll be seeing even more Lego cameos, more superheros, maybe even Harry Potter? I guess we'll have to wait and see. The directors explained that the film will have a little live-action landscape, but the majority of the movie takes place in a CG animated "one-inch high universe" with "a cast of thousands and thousands and thousands."
The movie has also cast Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) as the lead character in the movie named Emmet. Emmet is "an ordinary, law-abiding, rules-following, perfectly average Lego mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary Master Builder. He's drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared."
I wonder how big of a role Batman and Superman will have in the movie, as they could really help in saving the Lego universe. The movie has a team of talented directors, and I think it's going to turn out to be a very fun and entertaining film.
The movie is scheduled to be released on February 28th, 2014. What other Lego cameos would you like to see make it into the film?
