Ryan Reynolds Is Officially THE HIGHLANDER

Last month we heard that Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment wanted Ryan Reynolds to take the lead in the Highlander reboot they are producing. Today we have word that the deal is officially set in stone, and Reynolds will battle immortal warriors. The confirmation comes from The Tracking Board who says,

After roughly a month of negotiations, Ryan Reynolds has officially been cast in the lead role for HIGHLANDER. Reynolds will play Conner MacLeod, a Highlander who discovers he is one of a dwindling group of immortals who wander the earth and kill each other in combat for the final “Prize” – immortality.

I have no issues with Reynolds taking on this role, in fact I think he'll do a solid job. I've enjoyed him in most everything he's done, as for Green Lantern... that wasn't his fault. Like most movies the quality of it all falls on the shoulders of the director, in this case it's Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), who's currently in negotiations to rewrite the script.

I love the original film, and I hope this remake turns out to be good. What do you think about Reynolds being cast in the role? If you don't like the idea of Reynolds in it, who would you like to see take it on?
