Clive Barker To Take on ZOMBIES VS. GLADIATORS

A few years ago I made a story pitch revolving around zombies, and I'll never forget what the guy I made the pitch to told me. He said that the Zombie genre was dead, and that there was no money it. I knew better, I knew one day zombies would blow up, and they did, they are bigger now than they ever were! The success of The Walking Dead just took the genre to a whole new level, now everyone is trying to jump in on the zombie bandwagon.

Amazon Studios has hired Hellraiser creator Clive Barker to rewrite a script for a movie called Zombies Vs. Gladiators. The story is set in the ancient Roman Empire and as a shaman is about to die in the Coliosseum he "casts a spell that rouses history’s first wave of zombies. It’s up to a gladiator to stop the spread of the zombie horde and save Rome." I believe the original story came from Greg Ostrin and Michael Weiss. Not sure if this is the same project, but it's definitely has the same title.

I can see how this could be a very entertaining movie. Gladiators taking on a horde of zombies just sounds awesome! Barker hasn't really done anything recently that I've liked though, so there's a chance it could end up not being as good as it could be. What do you think about Barker taking on this material?
