GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS to Get Big Screen Adaptation

Movie by Joey Paur

I'd hate to be the guy who has to adapt this book into a movie! Warner Bros. is currently in negotiations to secure the film rights to the Guinness Book of World Records so they can turn it into an action adventure film.

This is such an odd book to turn into a movie. I have no idea how they are going to turn it into a story that makes any sense. There's just a hell of a lot of stuff going on in that book! They could literally take one world record event and turn that into a movie, but there's thousands of them! According to Deadline, "The goal is to blow out the accomplishments of record-setters and turn it into an action movie with global appeal."

The Office TV writer Danny Chun has been hired to pen the script, and I wish him the best of luck. This seems like one of those projects that could end up going through a ton of writers, directors, and talent before they finally actually end up making the film because of how difficult it could be to get a handle on it. Paramount Pictures has been trying to get Ripley’s Believe It Or Not up on the big screen for years, but they can't seem to get it together.

I've always been intrigued by the Guinness Book of World Records and it got a lot of cool stuff. It's just hard to see how the whole book can be turned into one movie. The book was launched by the Guinness Brewing Company in Ireland after an executive there tried to settle an argument over whether Europe’s fastest bird was the golden plover or the grouse, the brew maker realized a book that chronicled records would become popular.

Do you think Warner Bros. will be able to pull off turning this into a good movie? If there was one world record you'd like to see turned into the movie what would it be? Mine would be the biggest wave ever ridden.
