Lionsgate will take the third and final Hunger Games book, Mockingjay, and split it into two films. This isn't really that surprising. My question is, why do studios only take the last book and split it into two movies, when all along they could have been splitting every book into two movies? Seriously! Think about how much more money Warner Bros. could have made off of the Harry Potter franchise had they slit every book into two films, and they could have told more of the story.
The studio will released The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 on November 21st, 2014, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be released on November 20th, 2015. The next Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, is coming out November 22nd, 2013.
What do you think about the studio splitting the final Hunger Games book up? Do you think the third book warrants two films? I don't, the third book was the worst in the trilogy.
