HELLBOY 3 - Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman are up for it!

Whenever Guillermo del Toro or Ron Perlman have been asked about a third Hellboy film in the past, they made it sound like it would never happen. The filmmaker just didn't seem really all that interested, and Perlman talked about how he wasn't looking forward to sitting around uncomfortably for hours having his make-up done for the role. But that's all changed, they're now both up for doing a third Hellboy movie!

Perlman said in an interview with EW that,

I can say publicly that now we are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3]. The [first] two movies were really set up to have this unbelievable resolve. Everything that was done in both movies was leading up to this destiny, written in stone, of what Hellboy has been summoned to Earth to do. To not do it, particularly in light of the scope that Guillermo is thinking of for the resolve, would be in my mind a little bit of a shame.

As you recently saw Perlman got back into his Hellboy gear for a Make-a-Wish foundation, which was incredibly cool! He helped grant the dream of a six-year-old boy battling leukemia who just wanted to meet Hellboy. Perlman went on to say,

The make-up artist [with Spectral Motion] was the one who got contacted by the foundation. This kid was watching Hellboy when he was in treatment. [The makeup artist told me] he would like to meet Hellboy. I said, ‘No problem, what day?’ He said, ‘I don’t think you understand. He does not want to meet Ron.’”

Del Toro then explained that this event helped bring himself and Perlman back together to collaborate on a third Hellboy.

I’ve encountered a lot of kids who are fans of the movies, but to hear the story of this kid who was watching the movies while going through treatment, it really just moved me a lot. We’re going to make an effort to do it. I hope it happens.

I think it's needless to say that we all hope it happens as well! Hellboy has been a great movie series to watch, and it's great that both Del Toro and Perlman are finally ready to make a third one!
