Peter Jackson has already completed shooting the first two films for The Hobbit and is prepping up to start shooting the third. One of the things I'm most excited about seeing in the films is what the dragon Smaug ends up looking like. He's voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch in the films, and I wondered which of the films he would end up showing up in. This bit of information is revealed in an interview with the actor from CumberbatchWeb. For those of you who don't want to know when we'll first see the dragon then don't read the quote below...
I think my eye might open at the end of the first film and then you’ll get the rest of me in the second.
Sounds like a great transition point between films! I can't wait to see Jackson's vision for these films, and what he's come up with. I'm excited to see what other aspects of Tolkien's world he dives into and brings to life on the big screen to complete his latest middle earth trilogy!
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released in theaters on December 14th, The Hobbit: There and Back Again will hit theaters on December 13th, 2013, and the third film will open in theaters during the summer of 2014.
