Will Smith's Biblical Vampire Cain and Able Story gets Greenlit

Movie Will Smith by Joey Paur

Sony Pictures has officially given Will Smith's film, The Redemption of Cain, the greenlight. The film puts a vampire twist on the legendary biblical story of Cain and Abel. Vampire and Bible stories are big in Hollywood right now, so I guess mixing the two together means this will be an instant success! Yeah, we'll see.

This will be Smith's first time directing a film, and it's scheduled to start shooting in July of 2013 from a script written by Caleeb Pinkett. Smith will most likely end up starring in it as well.

The original story follows Cain, who was a crop farmer, and his younger brother Abel, who was a shepherd. Cain committed the first murder when he killed his brother after God rejected his offerings of produce but accepted Abel's sacrifice "from the firstborn of his flock and from their fats." God curses Cain to walk the earth for eternity, and that's where the Vampire twist will come into play.

I'm curious to see how good of a director Smith will be. This is an interesting story for him to tell, do you think it will turn out being good?
