LES MISERABLES - Great Extended First Look Focuses on Singing

For those of you who didn't know, one of the most interesting things that director Tom Hooper is doing with his adaptation of the musical Les Misérables, is that he's recording the actors singing live on set. This gives the actors more freedom of expression, and the result turns out to be much more emotional.

The first look video includes interviews with the actors from the film, it includes some footage from the film, some of which is behind the scenes, and it also allows us to hear clips from several of the songs in the film. It sounds like everyone does a pretty solid job pulling it off!

The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

This movie looks like it's going to be a great adaptation of the Broadway musical, and I can't wait to see it when it's released on December 25th. Watch the fist look video and let us know what you think about the way the movie is being shot, and what you think of the voices of the actors.
