Last week it was announced that director Rupert Wyatt walked away from the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. FOX studio is now on the hunt for a new director, and according to Deadline here's the list of directors they will be talking to about taking on the project...
Matt Reeves (Let Me In), J Blakeson (The Disappearance Of Alice Creed), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Jeff Nichols (Crazy Heart), Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim), Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) and Rian Johnson (Looper).
That's a pretty impressive list of directors, all of which are very talented. Apparently, Reeves is at the top of the list, which is interesting because he recently dropped out as the director of The Twilight Zone movie. Makes me wonder if he did that to open up his schedule for this movie. I can see Reeves as the director. I'd like to see Del Toro or Johnson take it on though! The only thing with those guys is I'm sure they have something better to do.
The movie is scheduled to be released on May 23rd, 2013, so they better get a director on it soon to start developing it. Who from this list would you like to see end up directing the movie?
