Scott Derrickson to Direct Paranormal Police Thriller

Movie Scott Derrickson by Joey Paur

The director ofThe Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day the Earth Stood Still, Scott Derrickson, has signed on to direct a paranormal police thriller called Beware the Night

I'm a big fan of both horror movies and police dramas, so this sounds like it could be a cool film. The story follows a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves after dark. What? Vampires don't exist in this world?

According to The WrapMark Wahlberg was offered the lead role in the movie but ended up passing. Not sure why, but hopefully it wasn't because the script sucked, because Wahlberg has made some pretty terrible films in his career. It's not a good sign if he passes on a movie because the script is bad. Derrickson will be re-writing it though.

Derrickson has previously signed on to direct Two Eyes Staring, which is a remake of the Dutch thriller, Zwart Water with Charlize Theron for Summit Entertainment. He also recently wrote the script for Devil’s Knot, which is the movie being made based on the West Memphis Three.

Beware the Night seems like the perfect project for Derrickson to take on. Hopefully it turns out to be a good flick!
