Star Trek star Chris Pine seems extremely excited about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek 2. The movie is finished shooting, and is currently in the post-production process. He talks about the sequel in a recent interview with Total Film, giving us an idea of just how awesome this sequel is going to be! He explains that everything we loved about the first film will be in the sequel, but that it will be much more frightening.
There's comedy, which I think J.J. does a great job of, but, like the first one, there's some serious issues being dealt with. And I'd say the threat is even greater in this one.
The force [the Enterprise crew] are met with is much more frightening. It's relentlessly action-packed and in terms of character development it goes places you'd never expect. The arc is huge for all the characters. It's a really big story—I can't hype it enough!
Sounds like the crew of the U.S.S. enterprise are going to have a lot of crazy challenges to overcome both physically and mentally. Pine makes it sound like it's going to be epically awesome, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Abrams. He did a fantastic job with the first film, and I'm looking forward to seeing where he takes these characters next.
Star Trek 2 opens in theaters next summer on May 17th, 2013. What do you think about what Pine had to say?
