LOOPER Director Rian Johnson on Chances of Directing STAR WARS

Looper director Rian Johnson is one of those awesome directors who was never rumored to be directing Star Wars: Episode VII, but a lot of fans would like to see him take it on. As much as I would love to see him take on a Star Wars movie it just doesn't seem like his thing. 

In a recent interview with Digital Spy the filmmaker revealed that it would be hard to turn down if it was offered to him, but he prefers working on his own original ideas.

I don't think I'm on those sorts of lists. On the one hand, it's Star Wars, it would be very hard to say no to. 

On the other hand, for me, I'm really enjoying just writing my own stuff, and right now that's what I'm doing, I'm writing another original screenplay now, and we'll figure out how to get it made.

That's sort of what I'm in it for, is telling my own stories, and seeing if we can strike out on some new ground. So, luckily I don't think it's a problem that I'll have to deal with!

The fact that he's currently writing a new screenplay is incredibly exciting! He may not ever direct a Star Wars film, but it's great to know that he's got another film in the pipeline that he's developing! I personally think Johnson is one of the most talented filmmakers working in Hollywood right now, and I can't wait to see what he's going to give us next!
