Elizabeth Olsen Confirmed for Scarlet Witch in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

About a month ago it was rumored that Elizabeth Olsen was offered the role of Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Samuel L. Jackson confirmed that the actress will indeed be playing Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff! This is what he told them,

"I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script."

So there it is. The part was originally offered to Saoirse Ronan, but she turned it down, possibly to take on Star Wars. That has yet to confirmed, though. Olsen is a great actress, and I was hoping she would take on the role. I think she'll be a great fit for it in Whedon's Avengers universe.

It's been cool to see her career blow up since her first two films, Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene. Olsen has also starred in Red Lights, and will be seen in the upcoming Oldboy and Godzilla.
