Lionsgate has given screenwriter Danny Strong the chance to tackle the script for the second part of The Hunger Games finale Mockingjay. He already wrote the script for the first part, and the studio liked it enough to exercise their option to write Part 2. Strong recently won a couple of Emmy's for his work on HBO's Game Change.
The first part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will be released on November 21th, 2014, and the second part will hit theaters on November 20th, 2015. It will be interesting to see how they stretch that last book out into two movies.
Hopefully they can turn this one book into two decent entertaining films.
Here's the description of the third book in the series:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.
