Ali and Nixon screenwriters Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen Rivele have been hired to to write a new Bruce Lee origin story called Birth of the Dragon.
According to THR the movie is inspired by the true-life duel between Lee and Wong Jack Man, "who was China’s most famous Kung Fu Master. The no-rules fight took place in San Francisco in 1965, when the city’s Chinatown was controlled by Hong Kong Triads." This will be a jumping-off point for the writers for a much bigger action movie in which "Wong and Lee team up to battle a band of Chinatown gangsters."
I grew up watching Bruce Lee movies. I'm a huge fan of his films, and what he accomplished in his life. This sounds like it could be a very cool movie, and I'm excited to see how it eventually turns out. I'm surprised we haven't seen more movies based on Lee, the guy was an incredible person and he accomplished so much in his life. What do you think of the idea?
