The Eighth Season of DEXTER Will Be Its Last
We knew that Showtime's Dexter would have to come to and end at some point, and I've heard a lot of people involved with the show saying that this upcoming season will be its last. We now seem to have confirmation from CBS head Les Moonves that Dexter season 8 will close out this incredible series.
This shouldn't really come as a shock to anyone. When the series was renewed for seasons seven and eight, Showtime President David Nevins previously said that the the show probably wouldn't go beyond that.
I’m not going to say with absolute certainty that this is the end, but that is the likely scenario, that the series is moving towards a definite end.
Then executive producer Scott Buck told THR in a recent interview that this next season was being treated as its last.
We are absolutely writing it with an end in sight, but if we get told otherwise somewhere along the way, we’ll take it in a different direction. But we are definitely working toward the finale of the series. We are indeed, yes.
I'm sad that the show is coming to an end, it's one of my favorites, but the end was inevitable. All we can hope for now is that this last season will be its best! I'm looking forward to seeing how they close out the show and what happens to Dexter. There's always the slim chance that they will renew it for another season, but I'll just prepare for the end.
Do you have any theories on how you think the show will or should end?
