AMC to Develop BREAKING BAD Spin-off Series for Saul Goodman?
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has previously revealed that he'd like to develop a Breaking Bad spinoff series that centers on defense attorney Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Now according to Deadline, it sounds like AMC is actually considering the idea as being an hourlong or half-hourlong comedy series.
He's a wonderful character that I've enjoyed watching on the show since he was introduced in season 2, but it's really hard for me to imagine him outside of the situation that he's currently involved with in Breaking Bad. It's such an intense situation that to think of him in a comedy series just doesn't feel right, at the same time... it could be great! I may be kind of flip-flopping here, I know, but it's just one of those things I can see both the good and bad in.
This isn't a done deal right now, but Gilligan and series writer-producer Peter Gould, are currently working on some ideas. Here's what Gilligan said about it in a past interview last year...
I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff. I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He’ll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that.
Do you think a comedy that centers on Saul Goodman could be a good series?
