Adrien Brody to Play Harry Houdini in History Channel Miniseries
The History Channel is blowing up with riveting original programming! The Hatfields & McCoys, Vikings, The Men Who Built America, and The Bible have all been pretty awesome. They are now developing another miniseries based on the life of legendary magician Harry Houdini, and they've cast Adrien Brody to star in it.
As of right now the working title for the series is Houdini, and it will basically follow the magician's rise to fame. I've done a lot of research on Houdini over the years, and the guy led an incredible life. I trust The History Channel will bring us something that we'll all enjoy. This series will most likely turn out better than any of the Houdini movies that are currently in development. I like that it will tell the true life story of the man, and not overexaggerate it with fictional action set pieces.
This will be the first time Brody comes to the small screen since his 1990's TV movie Bullet Hearts. TV has changed a lot since then, and being on a TV series like this isn't downgrading. TV is getting better and better. Some of the stuff we're starting to see on television now is better than what we're seeing at the movies.
The Hatfields & McCoys relaunched Kevin Costner's career, and it could do the same thing for Brody, who hasn't really been doing anything good these days.
