J.J. Abrams Says John Williams Will Score STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

A lot of people have been wondering whether or not director J.J. Abrams would have John Williams score Star Wars: Episode VII or if he would once again use his frequent collaborator Michael Giacchino. I never had any doubt in that Williams would return to score the film, but Abrams recently confirmed that he wants Williams to do it at a press conference for Star Trek Into Darkness. When the director was asked about it this was his reply,

Michael Giacchino is an incredible composer, who I was lucky enough to begin working with on Alias. ... He's truly one of the most influential members of our crew, and I think this score, he really outdid himself. Again, for Star Wars, it's very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.

Giacchino was also previously asked about it, and even he said he wanted Williams to do it. Who wouldn't want Williams to do it? The guy helped make Star Wars the timeless classic that it's become. There was a lot of 70s style music that could have been incorporated in the movie, luckily Williams created a masterpiece that will live on forever. I'm happy to hear that he'll be coming back for more!
