Bruce Timm Teams up with Zack Snyder for SUPERMAN Short

Warner Bros. Entertainment and DC Entertainment have unveiled a new 75th anniversary logo for Superman, and they've announced that Zack Snyder is working with Bruce Timm on a two-minute animated Superman short film. The short is new in development, and the rest of the team who is working on it includes Man of Steel storyboard artist Jay Oliva, as well as DC’s Geoff Johns and Mike Carlin and WB Animation’s Peter Girardi.

For those of you who are attending Comic-Con this year, the studio will be showing off an animatic. The short will end up being released officially in the fall.

There are no confirmed details on what the short will entail, but THR says "Snyder envisioned one continuous shot, without edits, that's an homage to the Man of Steel and his many iterations over the past 75 years: Max Fleischer's cartoons, on-screen portrayals by George Reeve and Christopher Reeves, iconic versions drawn by artists Wayne Boring, Curt Swan and Neal Adams, on up through Henry Cavill’s interpretation in Man of Steel."

Sounds like it could end up being pretty cool tribute. Warners CEO Kevin Tsujihara had this to say in a statement,

Warner Bros. is privileged to be home to the global Superman brand, which has had an unparalleled impact on popular culture for 75 years, We are proud to commemorate this milestone with exciting entertainment across the entire studio and across the globe, ensuring this enduring icon reaches new generations of audiences.

DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson added,

Superman is undeniably the greatest superhero in the world and likely the most influential comic book character of all time. In addition to being an enduring presence in pop culture for the last 75 years, he continues to be a commanding global icon.

Remember that time when DC Comics tried to kill off Superman? That was stupidest thing ever, and the fact they actually signed off on that crap always makes be laugh. The reason I bring it up is because none of this would even matter if Superman was still dead.
