J.J. Abrams on STAR WARS - The Key Is to Honor, Not Revere
During the "Produced By" conference over the weekend, J.J. Abrams talked a little bit more about the challenges of directing Star Wars: Episode VII. He didn't give many details, just confirmed that the movie would start shooting in London in early 2014, and also said,
I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before.
As you know Abrams is a huge fan of the franchise, but it sounds like he's going to keep that fandom in check while making the film. When asked about any other details about the film he had no comment. I have no doubt Abrams is going to deliver a great movie to Star Wars fans. I just don't think he would make a film that he wouldn't want to see himself.
