Helena Bonham Carter to Play Fairy Godmother in CINDERELLA
I don't know about you, but when I think of Helena Bonham Carter, I don't think of her as fairy Godmother material. But, she will be turning pumpkin's into carriages Kenneth Branagh's live-action adaptation of Cinderella.
She has been cast in the film, and joins Lily James (Downton Abby) in the title role, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as the prince. Then there's Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) and Holliday Granger (The Borgias) who are playing the stepsisters.
According to THR, "the fairy godmother will be getting more screen time in this version than in Disney’s classic animated movie, with the character disguised as an old beggar who watches over Cinderella before revealing herself as the magical being she truly is." That makes a little more sense to me, I can see carter as an old beggar woman. I'm sure with a lot of glowing special effects they can turn her into a decent looking Fairy Godmother.
She's a good actress so she should end up being fine in the film. What do you think about her taking on the role of Fairy Godmother?
