Joss Whedon on MAN OF STEEL and Fox Using Quicksilver in X-MEN
As Joss Whedon prepares to give us an awesome sequel to The Avengers, he talks about Man of Steel and how it will influence his movie. He also shares his thoughts on Fox using Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
First of all, he admits to Total Film that that he hasn't had a chance to see Man of Steel yet, but goes on to explain a couple of the reasons why he needs to see it.
"I have not had a chance to catch Man of Steel yet, but I'm going to. When you're making a large scale superhero film and a large scale superhero film comes out, you have to go and see it to make sure you're not imitating it. That you don't have a giant plot point or set piece that is exactly the same as yours. And it does happen a lot and we say, 'Oh, we better zig instead of zag.' You have to watch it for that, but also, to get a bit of inspiration. You either have a great time or you think, 'Well, I can top that', but I'm definitely going to have a great time."
That seems to make sense. If there were any similarities fanboys would rage out, so it's good to take measures to avoid that. Whedon is then asked about how he feels about Bryan Singer announcing his Quicksilver casting in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past before he did. He simply doesn't care,
"I don't. I really, you know what, I'm doing my thing and I'm very excited about my thing."
When asked if there's any truth about Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing Quicksilver in the film, all he said was,
"I'm VERY excited about my thing."
And that's it! I've included the video interview below, and he starts talking about all this stuff around the 9-minute mark.
