Anna Kendrick Will Play Cinderella in Disney's INTO THE WOODS

Movie Cinderella by Joey Paur

Anna Kendrick has been cast as Cinderella in Disney's big screen adaptation of the musical Into the Woods. She will join Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ullman, and Christine Baranski.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides director Rob Marshall is developing the film, and the story follows "a childless baker and his wife who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk’s Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, and other classic fairy tale characters."

Kendrick should make for a great Cinderella. Blunt is set to play the baker’s wife in the story, which is the female lead. Streep is playing the vain and charismatic Witch, while Depp is going to play "a hungry and sexy variation of a fairy tale wolf." As for Gyllenhaal and Pine, they will play the musical’s two main princes, "Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince, brothers who are pompous and self-absorbed."

The movie is set to be released on December 25th, 2015.
