WORLD WAR Z Sequel Moving Into Development
Brad Pitt's World War Z did very will at the box office in its opening weekend, pulling in over $111 million world wide. That's a strong opening weekend, and it looks like Paramount Pictures is moving forward with the sequel! There was a good chance that this movie was going to bomb at the box office, and people were expecting it to. Surprisingly, the movie turned out really well, people are enjoying it, and it's making money. This is actually the biggest opening of Pitt's career.
The movie was originally planned as a trilogy, but after all of the issues the movie had during production it didn't look like that would happen. According to studio vice chairman Rob Moore, "Paramount will actively turn to developing a sequel."
This was a passion project for Pitt, so he'll most likely be back to reprise his role. As for the director Marc Forster, he's expressed interest in returning, but after all the issues with the first film I imagine the studio will want to bring in someone new.
