Peter Jackson has released a video production blog for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It takes us behind the scenes of the making of the epic adventure, and it covers the additional photography that was shot for the final two films.

I've always enjoyed these video diaries because it allows us the opportunity to see the process of making these films. This gives us a look at some great behind the scenes footage, and Jackson also announces that they will NOT have a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year which kind of sucks, but he explains why in the video

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
