THE CONJURING Sequel Moving Into Development
James Wan's horror film The Conjuring comes out later this week, but the reviews for it have started to roll out, and they've been extremely positive. It seems like this horror movie is going to be even better than it looks, and it already looks pretty freakin' terrifying!
New Line Cinema is already developing a sequel to the film which is based on a true story about a haunted house that is terrorizing a family. It takes place in Rhode Island in 1971, and follows real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren — portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga -- as they investigate the house.
New Line president Toby Emmerich told Variety that they are currently exploring ways to turn this into a franchise based on the Warrens’ paranormal investigations. He says,
“This is as good a horror movie as we’ve ever made…. We think it will have great playability. We have Lorraine’s permission and support, and we are working on developing another film."
The Amityville Horror and The Haunting in Connecticut are both films based on the Warrens' investigations, but I'm sure there are a lot more interesting stories that they could pull from. Apparently though, The Conjuring is the most terrifying experience they had, so any sequels might not be as scary.
I can't wait to see The Conjuring for myself! I love horror movies, and this one is apparently supposed to be one of the best.
