Christopher Walken Cast in Clint Eastwood's JERSEY BOYS
Clint Eastwood has cast Christopher Walken is his big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Jersey Boys.
According to Deadline, "Walken will play the role of Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, the Jersey mobster who, in the show, served an unofficial consigliere role to the young singers as they tried to build their careers without falling into the grip of organized crime." Walken is an awesome actor, and I'm sure he'll be great in this.
The story centers around Frankie Valli and the other members of pop music sensation the Four Seasons during their rise to superstardom.
Jon Favreau was going to direct the film before Eastwood came on board, but he left to direct an original film called Chef.
Here's the synopsis from the musical:
Everyone knows their songs. Few know their story. Named for a bowling alley that refused to book them, The Four Seasons—Frankie, Tommy, Bob, and Nick—were four high school dropouts who emerged from New Jersey to become true American Idols: one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. With a shiny doo-wop sound highlighted by lead singer Frankie Valli’s stratospheric falsetto, they wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds, and sold 175 million records worldwide—all before they were thirty.
