The Wolverine Screenwriter Taking on ASSASSIN'S CREED

Movie Assassin's Creed by Joey Paur

The Wolverine and Minority Report screenwriter, Scott Frank, has said that he is currently working on the script for Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed. Apparently he's rewriting the script Michael Lesslie wrote that helped land the film at 20th Century Fox.

While talking to Creative Screenwriting in an interview for The Wolverine, the writer said,

“I’m rewriting Assassin’s Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I’ve never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges. Especially in the world of rewrites, I love trying to do something completely different if I can.”

There's no director attached to the film yet, but Ubisoft will maintain control of key elements of the movie's creative direction. They are guiding the film and story in the direction they want it to go. It's safe to say they will stay close to the story of the video game, which centers on a bartender who is captured by a secret corporation with ties to the Knights Templar, and learns his ancestors were trained assassins. He's sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

The movie is set to be released on May 22nd, 2015!
