Benedict Cumberbatch Rumors for STAR WARS VII Are Blowing My Mind
We are all excited for the upcoming Star Wars film, and we are all waiting for the wave of casting news to envelop us. Well, it looks like the waves are coming.
The most recent rumor to hit the interwebs is that the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining the cast of the newest trilogy. Film Chronicles is saying that it is only a matter of time before it is confirmed that Cumberbatch will be in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
There was a ton of speculation surrounding Cumberbatch’s departure from Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak due to the fact that no reason was given for the drastic move. Hell, I would drop everything too if I was given a chance to be a part of the Star Wars universe.
This is something that we all should have seen coming. Cumberbatch and Abrams have an already established working relationship, so it seems like it would be a perfect fit. There is no news as to what side Cumberbatch will be aligned with, but does it really matter?
I am a real fan of Cumberbatch; I think the guy should be in everything. If you haven’t had a chance you should really check out his BBC show Sherlock. The man is a fantastic actor; he's received critical acclaim both on screen and on the stage. Give him 10 minutes and a little dialogue and he is sure to hook you with his character work. Don’t believe me? Check this short called Inseparable and you will know that I am right.
If he is cast in the film it will complete the Quadfecta of Geekdom (yeah, I went there) that is Benedict Cumberbatch’s film career. Sherlock Holmes, The Hobbit, Star Trek, and now Star Wars. The awesomeness just might be too much to handle! I hate that I have to remind myself that this is just a rumor for now.
