21 JUMP STREET Spinoff Film Lands BOB’S BURGERS Writers
The female 21 Jump Street spinoff film Sony Pictures is developing just hired two writers to take on the challenge of writing the script. Lizzie and Windy Molyneux are the two writers who have been brought on, and they worked on they animated comedy Bob’s Burgers for FOX.
I’m not the biggest fan of Bob’s Burgers. It’s one of those shows I just don’t find funny, but maybe a project like this will allow for their comedy writing talents to shine. This is the second writing team to come on board the project. Before they came along, Comedy Central’s Broad City writers, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, were hired to work on a script.
According to THR, “the studio liked a pitch from the Molyneux sisters, so it is moving forward with dual-track development, in which both writing teams are working on separate scripts for the comedy.”
I guess that’s one way to do it. May the best screenwriters win! The studio is also planning a third installment in the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill franchise called 23 Jump Street, with Rodney Rothman writing the script.
