3D Printed Wolverine Claws That Extend and Retract When You Flex
Advancer Technologies has released a video and step-by-step instructions on how to make your own Wolverine claws that extend and retract when you flex! This is done with a technology they are developing called MyoWare. They call them "Bionic Claws" so they don't get sued, but that doesn't stop them from playing X-Men music during the video though! Here's the description that came along with the video:
Our tutorial will teach you to build bionic claws using our fourth-generation muscle sensor, the MyoWare. Simply flex your forearm muscle and *SNIKT*, a fraction of a second later the 4 inch claws extend out. Relax your forearm to retract the claws. We've even added a muscle-activated locking mechanism in case you want the claws to stay out without keeping your muscle flexed.
This MyoWare sensor could also be used to make prosthetic limbs more functional so that someone could merely flex their muscle to use an artificial limb to pick something up. The have a Kickstarter page for it here with more information. These Wolverine inspired claws are a great way for them to get the word out. Check out the video!
